It increases the strength and vitality; it is called Bala because it is self-strengthening.
It is found in almost all the provinces throughout the year. But in the rainy season, it is found in abundance in the fields and ridges. Its roots and stem are very strong and do not break easily.
Bala (Bariyra) is Sheetveerya, Balya, Rasayan, Vrishya, Prajasthapana, Sangrahi, Vatapittahar and Snigdha.
It is used in hemoptysis, gonorrhoea, leucorrhoea, Vaat disorders and ulcers.
In spermatorrhoea, giving kwath of its panchang is beneficial.
In leucorrhoea, frequent urination and gonorrhea, powder of its root bark is used with sugar and milk.
In hemiplegia, Ardit, Carotid Stambh, Avvaahuk, Sciatica and Headache, etc. Vaat disorders, its root alone or its root mixed with asafoetida and sandhav is used and Siddha oil is used externally with milk.
In eye infections, its leaves are ground and tied.
In syphilis, ringworm and wounds, its roots are ground and tied to heal wounds quickly.
To strengthen the heart, it is used with Makardhwaj and musk.
In rajayakshma, ghee prepared from its roots is used with milk mixed with honey.
For rasayan, its roots (20-40 grams) are ground with milk and given to drink and milk rice mixed with ghee is fed in the diet.
